Martin Wells Iconic eyewear

The re-launch of the Martin Wells eyewear label marks the return of an iconic part of Australia’s optometrical history. Established in 1954, and originally manufactured in an old Sydney munitions factory, the Martin Wells label ushered in a new era of fashion into spectacles in Australia.

The new Martin Wells range draws inspiration from Wells’ golden age, giving a nod to retro-chic styles of yesteryear.

It is a tightly curated collection, focussing on simplicity of frame shapes rendered in deliciously lustrous acetates. The resulting frames are a robust and voluptuous homage to their Australian heritage.

Unique labels like Martin Wells are part of what makes us Tamworth’s eyewear style destination. See the collection in-store now.

Eyewear to the world

By the mid 20th century spectacles were fast becoming fashion items, with international firms exploring new shapes, materials, decoration and colour.

Martin Wells capitalised on the new trends and by the 1950s and 1960s their spectacle frames were extremely popular in Australia, as well as being exported to international markets including the United States and Europe. This Australian brand was truly selling Eyewear to the World.

We are proud to introduce this iconic Australian label to Tamworth’s eyewear style destination. See the collection in-store now.
